Day 1 is Done !

Well Day 1 is all done.   

We slept well last night, enjoyed a lovely breakfast together and then were picked up by our guides at 7.30 a.m.   The guides seem like a fun lot - Rodney was very excited to see that one of them was a guy so now there are 16 women and 2 men.   The guides names are Annie, Ella, Stella and Kenna.

We were driven to our start point and then started off on the Trek following the old telegraph line.  The incredible views that we witnessed as we made our way to the top of Euro Ridge was well worth the climb.  We sat on the top and were treated to an awesome lunch prepared by Kenna and Ella.   The country is so sparse and you can see for miles over the vast MacDonnell Ranges.

We then headed downhill to Wallaby Gap and finally made it into Camp where Annie and Stella had our campsite set up.   A yummy cup of tea and biscuit and we were all feeling good.   We then set up our swags and are now sitting around talking to each other.

Tonight will be our first night of sleeping under the stars and we are all very excited about - and a few are a little scared too !

We got into Camp around 2.30 p.m. after walking 13.5 kms over 6 hours and covering 29,268 steps (according to the fit bit !)

Not sure how much longer we will have service to post but just so all our families know everyone is doing great and are all in great frames of minds.   It is amazing to be walking along in a line and seeing everyone's photos of their families and a Camp Quality child hanging off the back of their backpacks.

Rach has every medication or chemist item we could possibly need and Josie has a "snack shop" - so many snacks !  Leanne is our Hollywood Housewife and is bringing a bit of class to the group with her bling encrusted wine glass !

I have added a few photos for everyone to have a look at.   Hopefully I can blog again tomorrow to let you know how our night went.
