This morning was another early morning. We got the call at
6.15 am from our guides, rolled up our swags, got dressed, had a yummy
breakfast and were on our way.
Today's grade was rated "hard" and it was a full
on day. It took us 9 hours to get into camp but the scenery was incredible.
We started by walking along Jays Creek River Bed. It
was definitely challenging but so so scenic. Lots of incredible gorges and
exposed saddles. You feel so tiny against the massive quartzite ridges.
It is hard to explain how majestic and beautiful it is. At the end of
the day we passed through the Stanley Chasm and then headed into our Camp for
the night.
Our camp site tonight was a permanent camp site and we
actually had tents with camp stretchers - it was so warm inside the tent and a
treat for all of us.
We were really lucky to have an aboriginal lady named Dee
come along to talk to us about the aboriginal people and their culture. It was
so interesting but we were all so tired we were starting to fall asleep!
Tomorrow is going to be a very hard day so we are a little
anxious about that, but I am sure we will all be fine. We all help each other
so much.
Today we did around 21,000 steps.
Until next time,
Donna
