Day 5 - Section 4

Today we were given another very early wake up call. We all got organised and went up to the fire to have breakfast.  We cooked some fruit toast over the coals of the fire - yummy !

We set off bright and early and with a bit of trepidation about the day but eager to get started.

There was lots of climbing today but the views were incredible.  We finally made our way to the top of Brinkley Bluff where we had a yummy lunch.  We had service and were able to find out that Reddies sister had had a baby girl yesterday and that Qld had won the state of origin. It is truly impossible to explain the views of where we were.

We then started the long steep descent down the mountain to Stuart's Pass.  The last half km of our hike meant we had to hike through sand to get to our camp site. It was so hard that last hour but we all kept each other's spirits up and all got through.

Our camp site was at Birthday Waterhole and everyone enjoyed dipping in the freezing cold waterhole and washing out a clean shirt to wear.

We are currently sitting around the camp fire waiting for our dinner.

It's been a mammoth day and I am so proud of everyone and how amazing they have all been - they are an amazing bunch.

Today's step count was 29,000 and 9 hours of trekking. Time for dinner and a sleep.

Love to all

Donna
