Because yesterday was such a mammoth day, our guides gave us
an extra half hour sleep in which we thought was awesome.
We had eggs on toast and beans this morning which was a
lovely change. We then helped pack up camp and started heading out about 8.30
am.
Today was a particularly hot day and as we made our way
along the Track we all agreed that it probably would have been a better idea to
have started earlier to beat the heat.
We did 16 kms over 6.5 hours and around 25,000 steps.
The scenery wasn't as spectacular as some other days and the heat made it quite
challenging to walk.
This Section of the Trek takes 2 days to walk so tonight we
have set up camp at Rocky Gully. It's quite amazing the way our guides
set up Camp from scratch, create a camp fire and an incredible meal - we are
very lucky to have such amazing support.
When we got into Camp we had a tiny bird bath to share,
passing around the bowl of water. Baby wipes are getting a big work out
and the lovely Ali has bought a little bag of products with her that she shares
with us of a night - face mist, rosehip oil, face cream, eye cream and
moisturiser- it feels so lovely to have even a little pamper considering we are
up to Day 7 without showering.
Lea Lea is keeping us all entertained by learning lots of
new bush skills - she has learnt how to howl like a dingo and use the bush
toilet !
There are lots of sore feet, legs and knees. There is
Deepheat and Voltaren everywhere. People are popping blisters and
wrapping tape around their feet and toes but everyone is still marching
on.
Comment from Lea Lea:
Really hot day but loved how Annie did kinky Boots on my
trekking boots !
Comment from Rod:
Very hot trek, spectacular views as always and very glad to
have a cold beer at the end of the day !
Lots of love to All,
Donna
