This morning we had to be up at 2 am as it is the culmination of the trek today - summit Mt Sonder.
With our backpacks full of extra warm clothes and snacks and our head torches ready we were piled into two troopies to be taken to the start of the climb.
As we travelled in the troopies, our guides playing us motivational songs, we looked like a rough group of navy seals getting ready to go into battle !!!!
Walking in the dark adds a whole other dimension to trekking and as we made our way up and up and up the mountain everyone was very quiet as they navigated the rocks.
After 4 hours we finally made it to the top just in time for the sun rise which was INCREDIBLE! There are 360 degree views and it was definately worth the early morning, freezing conditions and long climb.
We are now sitting on a rock having a cup of tea that our wonderful guides carried up for us - so lucky.
Will update again later. We have a 4 hour hike back down but the hard part is done!
Love,
Donna
