Day 12 Section 10

It was so nice to be able to have a sleep in this morning after our mammoth day yesterday.  Having said that some still had a restless night due to aches and pains in their feet and legs.

We left camp around 9 am this morning and started the days trekking.   Around 4.5 km into a 10 km day, our beautiful Rach tripped on a rock and went sliding across the rocks. Our guide Annie went running over to her and she had hurt her leg and hand and was in some shock.

Unfortunately there was no way to get a vehicle in so myself, Rodney and Annie our guide started walking back the 4.5 kms to a vehicle.  The rest of the group set off with our other guide Stella to Finish the 10 kms.

Rach was so brave, slowly walking out with Rodney supporting the weight of her injured leg all the way. It was painful for her and so took us a long time to walk back out.   Our guide Annie had run ahead to try and get some help so I was very thankful that I had Rod with me to help Rach - he was awesome.

We finally got Rach back to a vehicle and back to camp where all the other trekkers were waiting for her.   Annie cleaned all the gravel out of her hand and iced and bandaged her leg.  After a little while of all sitting around the camp fire, Rach went for a sleep and Two of our guides suggested we might like to go to visit an outback caravan park called "Glen Helen".

So we all piled in the troopie and they dropped us there for an hour and half. It was nice to be near a shop and a bar.

They then came to pick us back up and we got into our warm clothes before the cold night air set in.  Tonight Ella cooked a baked chicken dinner in the camp ovens - OMG it was so awesome.

Now we are all tucked up in bed and getting ready for another 7 hour trekking day tomorrow with a "hard Grading".

Rach is feeling lots better after icing her leg all arvo and all the wonderful attention our amazing guides have given her.  She won't be walking for a day or two but is in good spirits - she is a tough one !

18,000 steps were walked today.

Until tomorrow,

Donna

5.30 am - Just so nobody is worrying, Rach had a good of night sleep and is doing well today. She is staying at camp to rest but is joking with everyone and we are aiming to get her back on track for Mt Sonder.
