It was a cold night last night and when we got up this morning and there was ice everywhere. It was so cold. We dragged ourselves out of our swags, pulled on our clothes and made our way down to our camp fire for breakfast. Day 14 without showers !!!!!
Today was a lot shorter day with only 4 hours of hiking - thank goodness it was as everyone is getting a little wearier each day.
When we got about 8 kms in, our guides wanted us to have a bit of Alone time on the track so they started the first person off, we had to wait 2 mins and then the next person went. It was weird being on the track by yourself. Most people seemed to enjoy it but for some (like me) it was way too long alone !
When we finished the Section, Ella and Stella, two of our guides met us at the riverbank with salad wraps and a cup of tea which was so nice.
We have already had our brief on tomorrow's Trek when we take on reaching the top of Mt Sonder for sunrise. We have to be up at 2 am to have breakfast and be walking by 3 am. It's 4 hours up in the dark and 4 hours back down.
We have been told it will be freezing at the top so to bring thermals, gloves, scarves, etc. All going well we will be back in camp by 12 noon. Wish us luck !
We walked 24,000 steps today.
Everyone's injuries are holding up and we are about to get all our water bladders filled and feet strapped ready for tomorrow.
Keep the positive messages coming - we need them.
